Good food,
drink and music…the three things that man attaches a lot of importance to. The
touch on food preserves some sacred (couldn’t find a better word!) sort of
sensitivity. There is something about what we let down our gullet. Here’s a
little text revolving around the same.
Between my saucepan and I, there’s a
story…
Welcome to my kitchen...
Bake and
baste the chicken with oil
Beat the egg
and for the grain let it boil
Blanch and
blend and cover with some foil
Braise the
stew for a little while
Dice the capsicum
and dry the lentils
Knead the
flour to dough that’s plenty
Fillet,
flake and time to fry
Mash or
mince
All for a
tasty treat
Whip or
whisk
Coriander
for garnish
Serve the
horseradish
Roll out
that napkin!
Here’s for
starters;
Minestrone
soup
Cream of
mushroom
Scotch broth
Corn and
chicken chowder
Toss in some
paprika powder
Salad
servings up next;
Cucumber and
carrot
Lettuce and tomato
Sweet corn
and pineapple
Walnuts to
top the circle
Rattle the
pans for some ratatouille;
Couple of
chopped onions
Snipped
parsley and extra basil
Aubergines
and peppers
Cloves and
courgettes
Garlic and
thyme
Will be done
in a nick of time
A scoop of
starch;
Scalloped
potatoes, baked potatoes
Coconut
rice, curried rice
Pasta with a
topping of shredded cheese
Get that
diet balanced with ease
Pipe in some
protein;
Chicken or
fish
Beef or pork
How about a
taste of both?
Beans maybe
in a little broth
Or shrimps
from the Mediterranean Sea
Some sauce, please
and thank you;
Ginger sauce
for their mutton
Barbeque
sauce for my roasted leg of lamb
Tartar sauce
for her fish
Mint sauce
for his kibbeh halabi
Finally dig
into the dessert;
A crème
brulee or a vanilla soufflé
Lemon tart
or meringue pie
Chocolate
mousse for the sweet tooth
Or better
munch on a fruit!
That is the
life of my sophisticated saucepan!
